SHAHMEER HASSAN
2nd Year Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate at Imperial College London
EXPERIENCE
Previous Roles
June 2020 - October 2020
UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCHER, IMPERIAL COLLEGE LONDON
I led the technical implementation of remote communication methods within the Mechancial Engineering Department for the start of the 2020-21 academic year, setting up and creating tutorials for Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
I created in depth data processing and reporting tutorials currently in use for mechanical engineering undergraduates.
April 2020 - Present
CONTENT CREATOR, MECHNET
I create independent academic content to supplement departmental teaching material for mechanical engineering at Imperial College London.
I have so far generated and released over 250 pages of notes for Year 1 & 2 students, covering thermofluids, mechatronics, solid mechanics, mathematics and reporting.
In March 2021, I delivered a four-hour mathematics lecture to Year 1 students in order to supplement their pandemic-compromised online learning.
October 2020 - June 2021
ACADEMIC REPRESENTATIVE, IMPERIAL COLLEGE LONDON
I was elected into position to represent over 150 Year 2 mechanical engineering students. I collect, process, summarise and present cohort data to senior departmental staff on a weekly basis.
Over the course of the 2020-21 academic year, I have campaigned with my fellow representative to minimise the detrimental impact of online learning.
July 2018 - July 2019
COMPANY SERGEANT MAJOR, NRGS CCF
I was promoted to the highest attainable rank in the Newcastle Royal Grammar School Combined Cadet Force. I was responsible for record recruitment, the transition of the cadet force from paper-based to digital communication systems and developed several bespoke training aids.
Weekly tasks involved timetabling, teaching and logistics. Exercises involved several weeks of planning and culminated in 48 hours of in-field training and simulation where I was platoon commander.
Due to its high-standing reputation, the cadet force was selected by the Ministry of Defence as part of a new weapon testing programme, with myself as the section commander.
MY SKILLSET
A competent engineer is not just academically proficient but has the soft skills required to collaborate effectively and form part of a cohesive team.
